The
Driving School Association of the Americas (hereinafter
referred to as the DSAA) was incorporated in
1973 as a non-profit organization under the
laws and rules of the District of Columbia in
the United States. The DSAA is proud to be celebrating
its many years of dedication to saving lives
in the Americas and establishing “The Standard
in Driver Education and Traffic Safety Since
1973”. Our original roots or birth of our organization,
actually date back to 1958.
The
mission of the DSAA is to organize all driving
schools throughout the Americas (United States
and Canada predominantly) for the purpose of
raising the standards of educational methods
in teaching driver education, to promote traffic
safety on the highways and streets, to publicize,
inform and educate the general public to the
need for more intensive driver training, safer
roadways and all things relating thereto.
Our
membership is truly worldwide in its composition
and we represent the more than 8,000 driving
schools and 50,000 driving educators within
this industry in North America. We also have
additional members from countries such as Austria,
England, Germany and Japan. Our membership and
this industry continue to grow day by day and
the strongest membership and representation
will always exist in the United States and Canada.
Each
year the DSAA stages numerous educational opportunities
with regional seminars and an annual international
conference. During these events we provide professional,
governmental, university and industry experts
to address our membership and this industry
as a whole. These speakers cover a broad range
of topics that include but are not limited to
the latest teaching methods, utilization of
new technologies in education, better marketing
strategies, employment issues and better driving
skills. We also make sure that this industry
is informed first when laws or administrative
rules may change so that we are able to fully
inform the public of the many changes as they
may occur. It is our duty to ensure reasonable
and responsible implementation.
The
DSAA works diligently with and in support of
legislative bodies on a national and state/provincial
level to ensure passage and promulgation of
laws that will lead to safer roads and a reduction
in the carnage that exists on the roadways of
the world. We encourage state/provincial associations
and support them in any way we can, from formation
in their respective state/province to matters
of urgency as it may relate to this industry
or affect the public in general. We understand
our position to inform and educate and take
that responsibility to be paramount in its importance.
We
offer this industry more than just words and
encouragement. To our members and friends we
send out our quarterly news magazine, The Dual
News; that focuses on all the news of the day
in this industry and maintain a variety of information
at our website, located at www.thedsaa.org.
Our members have many additional benefits
that include insurance programs, a free web
presence hosted by us, the APPS Program and
other items too numerous to mention here. There
are prestigious awards that are presented during
each year to honor the DSAA members and other
related persons for outstanding achievement
(s) and distinction in this industry.
