Kathy Clausen is what we affectionately call a "Driving School Brat"!! Her parents own and operate the largest and most successful driving school in Illinois, Adams School of Driving since 1976. Her father, Ed, passed away in 1984 and her mother, Van Adams, continued the school's operation as a financial and professional success.
Kathy's earlier profession was as a registered nurse but she came into the driving school profession in 1984 and started Sears Authorized Driving School in the Chicago area in 1988.
Kathy has been extremely active in DSAA since 1986. She has been secretary, treasurer and most recently elected as our DSAA 1999 Administrative Vice President. Her "Woman's Touch" has been most evident as convention chairperson of the last two highly enjoyed conferences. The Driving School Association of the America's recently honored her with the H.B. Vinson Award, the most prestigious award of our national association.
Not only is Kathy very involved in her state and national associations and running her driving school, she is mother to four (4) children: Julie, 29, who will make Kathy a Yia-Yia (Greek for Grandmother) in July; Jennifer, 27; Adam, 16; and Matthew, 11.
Let me share with you a quote from Kathy:"I was greatly uplifted by the spirit and atmosphere at our New Orleans conference. So many new faces working so hard at so many new tasks!
It has worked as a rejuvenation for me!"
