Message from the President

I would like to personally thank you and welcome you to YOUR trade association, The Driving School Association of the Americas. I say “your trade association” because we encourage you to get involved and share your expertise and passion with the membership at our Conferences, Regional Seminars, and Board Meetings.

I’m a second-generation driving school owner, my father started Century Driving School in 1992, and in 2002 I purchased the company. My father died a year later, and the DSAA has been a valuable resource ever since. Since then, I started attending Board meetings and Conventions, and have seen the true benefit of my membership with this organization. My company is now helping other professions (i.e. law enforcement, transportation, medical referrals) that I never before dreamed of. My personal technical expertise has been broadened and expanded due to the benefits from opportunities found through the DSAA and attending the Conventions. Before that, when the annual DSAA membership was due, I recall asking myself, “Am I getting my money’s worth out of this organization?” Like every driving school, we have high overhead combined with the challenge of delivering quality training in what I believe is an undervalued service (more on that another time). If not for the financial investment made to attend the DSAA Seminars and Conferences, the business would have continued to struggle with our bottom line, and the belief that leaving the business for any period of time to attend the Conferences would be unwise. As a wise person once said, “You gotta spend money to make money”.

You have made an important decision to join The DSAA. Now I encourage you to make the additional investment in your business and attend the Regional Seminars, Conventions, and Board Meetings in 2015 & 2016:

SanAntonio, TX | November 4-7, 2015| Annual International Convention and Board Meeting

Chicago, IL | April, 2016| Regional Seminar and Board Meeting

Boca Raton, FL | November, 2016| Annual International Convention and Board Meeting

The DSAA has many passionate, knowledgeable and caring leaders of this industry, all-willing to share their expertise with you. Take advantage of them. Our Board members work hard to ensure your voice is heard. Visit to our new website and look up your Regional Vice-president and get to know them. We have many lines of communication available to you: phone/fax, email, website, e-Bulletin and Facebook Page. Please make sure you are linked with these so we may keep you up to date and informed. The DSAA is constantly working to give you greater value for your membership; we have partnered with many providers of goods and services relevant to our industry. You will find them at www.theDSAA.org and our e-Bulletin. I encourage you to go to their websites or call them—they are eager to help save you money and provide a quality service to your clientele.

I hope you feel as blessed as I do to have found a profession where every day we have the potential to make a life-saving difference in every student or client we teach. I take that professional responsibility seriously, as I’m sure you do, and look forward to your fellowship. Please feel free to call or email me with any comments or suggestions so that we may continue to improve your DSAA.
